4 Ways To Make Use of Your Yard This Summer

The summertime is just around the corner, and we couldn’t be happier. Although Florida doesn’t experience harsh winters, summer is still a season to look forward to. With the sun shining, your plants are probably thriving. Why not spruce up your yard and make use of it? Don’t let all that gardening and landscaping go to waste! There are so many fun ways you can host your friends and family in the comfort of your backyard.

Here are four ways to make use of your yard this summer.

Add a Few Creative DIY Touches

If you spent the winter watching gardening and home improvement shows, you may have a few ideas in mind. Whether you want to add a mosaic stone path or a garden bench, allow yourself to explore creatively! Spruce up your backyard space by doing a few DIY projects with your kids! You can handprint steppingstones or add a mural to your outdoor entertaining space.

Expand Your Entertainment Space

There’s no better way to use your yard than to expand the living space beyond your home’s walls. This will be a bonus space for you, your family, and guests who want to take the party outside. You can use your patio or deck space to relax and take in the nature around you. All you need is an inviting outdoor sofa, rug, stylish side tables, and throw pillows.

Also, make sure you consider your kids when creating an outdoor living area. Kid-friendly seating and play areas will help encourage them to come outside more often. This will also allow your children to have their own entertainment area within the view of the adults.

Have an Outdoor Movie Night

You can host an outdoor movie night with the family as a more chill summer activity. This is a great way to make use of your yard this summer and create a new fun family tradition. Invite your neighbors and a few friends for an unforgettable night under the stars. This doesn’t have to be super fancy, either. You only need a projector, a large white bed sheet, and a portable speaker. You can also use the blank side of the house or your garage door!

Note that summer nights are beautiful but also bring out mosquitoes. Don’t forget to bring bug repellent!

Create a DIY Water Adventure

Remember when you used to run through the sprinklers and have the time of your life? You can recreate (and upgrade) that this summer by creating a DIY water park in your backyard. One summer weekend, invite a few of your kids’ friends and family members to a water day full of fun. Bring out the Slip ’N Slide, blow up the inflatable water slide, gather some water balloons, and fire up the grill! Make sure everyone wears sunscreen to stay protected from the sun.
