National Water Safety Month

May is Water Safety Month – Help Keep Kids Safe from Drowning

Our Suncoast Safe Kids Coalition is bringing awareness to drowning prevention during Water Safety Month in May. Florida leads the nation in drowning deaths for children under five years old. This year, Sarasota county emergency crews have already responded to four drownings and near drownings, with the most vulnerable populations being one to four year olds.

Our safety experts are available for interviews and water safety segments to demonstrate the layers of protection to prevent drownings, how to properly select/wear a life jacket as well as how to install/use door alarms and pool gates.
